Our specialist MOT technicians will test and inspect your vehicle to the DVSA standards.

If you’re a car owner in Swindon, you need to ensure that your car has a valid MOT certificate. The Ministry of Transport test, commonly known as the MOT test, is a legal requirement in the UK for all vehicles aged three years or older.

We test all vehicles on-site and if repairs are needed to safely get you back on the road, you’ll be the first to know.

Cost is £45.00 for a Class 4 MOT and £58.00 for a Class 7 MOT and if your vehicle fails — we won’t charge you for the re-test if repairs are carried out inhouse.

At Apex Automotive Centre, we are dedicated to providing excellent customer service and ensuring that your car meets the highest standards of safety and roadworthiness. Our team of experienced technicians is fully trained and qualified to carry out MOT tests on all makes and models of vehicles.

Our state-of-the-art equipment ensures that your car receives a thorough inspection, and any issues are identified and repaired promptly. Our MOT tests are competitively priced, and we aim to provide a hassle-free experience for all our customers. Contact us to arrange your MOT in Swindon and we will be happy to serve you with our experienced testing service.

The MOT test covers a range of checks to ensure that your car meets the minimum safety and environmental standards. Some of the checks include:

The VIN is checked to ensure that it matches the one on your vehicle registration document. Any discrepancies could result in a failed MOT test.

All lights, including headlights, brake lights, indicators, and hazard lights, are checked to ensure that they are working correctly.

The steering and suspension systems are checked to ensure that they are in good condition and functioning correctly.

The brakes are checked to ensure that they are working correctly and meet the minimum required standards.

The tyres and wheels are checked to ensure that they are in good condition and meet the minimum required standards.

The exhaust emissions are checked to ensure that they meet the minimum required standards for environmental protection.

FAQs about our MOT service

We think MOTs should be easy to understand so here are some of the questions we get asked the most. If you don’t see your question, simply pick up the phone and we’ll be happy to answer any queries you may have.

A standard MOT takes around an hour. If there are repairs to be carried out, we may need it a little longer but, we will be in contact directly for authorisation on any repair required.

Yes, we have a comfortable customer waiting area in our reception where you can view your vehicle MOT as it is happening. Alternatively, you can leave your car with us when we open and come back for it at the end of the day. Just let us know when you book it in.

If your vehicle is over three years old, you’ll need one every 12 months and electronic reminders can be sent directly to your mobile or email should you prefer.

The vehicle will require the repairs identified during the test and retested thereafter.

If your car fails the MOT test, you will be issued with a failure certificate (VT30). This certificate will list the reasons for the failure and the items that need to be repaired or replaced. You will also be advised on the time frame within which the repairs need to be carried out.

At Apex Automotive Centre, we offer comprehensive repair and replacement services to ensure that your car meets the required standards. Once the repairs are carried out, we will carry out a retest, and if your car passes, we will issue you with a new MOT certificate.

Just yourself, your vehicle, and your logbook. That’s all we need to get you back on the road safely.

We will check that it meets road safety and environmental standards.

Remember though, you’ll need to get your car serviced regularly to make sure it passes. An MOT is a check that needs to be completed and doesn’t guarantee your car is roadworthy.

“This was the first time my car has had an MOT and I have not had to spend several hundred pounds to get it to pass. Many thanks for looking after all my motoring needs.”
